About CTRL

Netflix’s CTRL tackles pressing issues that today’s youth grapple with. Particularly the negative impact of social media and our increasing dependency on platforms like Instagram. This film serves as a vital wake-up call for those seeking validation online, especially as society often equates self-worth with follower counts. It’s alarming to see companies prioritizing social media presence over genuine merit. Often ignoring that many followers are or can be purchased and not authentic.

The narrative follows Nella (Ananya Panday), a social media influencer thriving on the fame and attention she receives from brand promotions. Alongside her boyfriend Joe (Vihaan Samat), she showcases a picture-perfect relationship on their Instagram page, sharing lofty relationship goals. However, the reality behind the curated posts is far from the truth, as their lives become ensnared in the relentless pursuit of likes. Their seemingly idyllic romance takes a dark turn when Nella unexpectedly captures Joe cheating on camera. In an attempt to take back control over her life, she creates an account on a new app called CTRL. She asks an AI companion to erase her ex from her life. What follows is a descent into a dark spiral where hope becomes elusive.
